How to search
the
Search fields:
Person : Conduct a basic search by
entering a single surname (ie.
Place : Conduct a basic search by entering a single place name (ie. Arkell; Minto Twp) Do not use a period after abbreviations (ie. Twp) To narrow down your search enter another search term in one or more of the other fields.
Organization: Conduct a basic search by entering an organizations name (ie. Beatty Bros; ). To narrow down your search enter another search term in one or more of the other fields.
Maker / creator: Conduct a basic search by entering the name of maker, publisher, or author (ie. Thomas Connon). To narrow down your search enter another search term in one or more of the other fields.
Title : Conduct a basic search for the word or phrase found in the title of the Description (ie. horse). To narrow down your search enter another search term in one or more of the other fields.
Subject : Conduct a basic search by entering a subject term from the in-house thesaurus of terms found in the drop down list. To narrow down your search enter another term in one or more of the other fields.
Date item was made: Enter a single year (ie. 1885) or a range (ie. 1850-1900) to narrow down your search.
Name of item: Conduct a basic search by entering the name of an item (ie. diary). To narrow down your search enter another search term in one or more of the other fields.
Art, Images, Maps: Search for art work, an image (photograph, slide, negative) or a map or architectural plan by selecting one of the terms from the drop down list. To narrow down your search enter another search term in one or more of the other fields.
Accession # : Search for an archival record using its catalogue classification or accession number if you already know the number : A1999.5
Art, Photo, Map numbers : Search for a specific piece of art: ART 123; photograph: ph 7411 or Map: MAP 875
